Abstract
The Croatian Action Programme for the protection of waters from nitrate pollution of agricultural origin aims to protect water from pollution caused by nitrates of agricultural origin in order to achieve good status of surface and groundwater bodies and prevent deterioration of already achieved state of water bodies in terms of nitrate pollution deriving from agricultural origin sources. Obligors to apply the conditions and measures prescribed by this Programme are agricultural holdings with agricultural areas and/or facilities within the areas declared vulnerable areas according to the Decision determining the vulnerable areas in the Republic of Croatia (Official Gazette of the Republic of Croatia 130/2012). Conditions and method of fertilizer application are laid down in articles 5, 6 and 7. General principles of fertilizer use are provided on articles 8-12. Annex (I, II and III) contains lists of maximum permitted values.
