Abstract
This Law amends several provisions part of the Croatian Maritime Code (originally published in the Official Gazette 181/2004, and already amended and supplemented in Gazettes 76/2007, 146/2008, 61/2011, 56/2013 and 26/2015).
In article 1a, a new and up-dated list of European Union transposed reference legislation is added (Directive 2000/59/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 November 2000 on port reception facilities for ship-generated waste and cargo residues; Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2000 establishing a framework for Community action in the field of water policy; Directive 2002/59/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 June 2002 establishing a Community navigation system and a Community information system and repealing Council Directive 93/75/EEC, as last amended by Commission Directive 2014/100/EU of 28 October 2014 amending Directive 2002/59/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a Community vessel navigation and information system; Council Directive 2009/13/EC of 16 February 2009 implementing the Agreement concluded by the European Community Shipowners Association (ECSA) and the European Transport Workers Union (ETF) on the Maritime Labor Convention, 2006, and amending Directive 1999/63/EC; Directive 2009/18/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2009 laying down the basic principles governing the investigation of maritime accidents and amending Council Directive 1999/35/EC and Directive 2002/59/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council; Directive 2009/20/ EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2009 on the insurance of shipowners for maritime claims; Directive 2009/21/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2009 on compliance with the flag State requirements; Directive 2012/35/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 November 2012 amending Directive 2008/106/EC on the minimum level of training of seafarers; Directive (EU) 2017/2110 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 November 2017 on a system of inspections for the safe conduct of navigation on a regular ro-ro passenger ship and express passenger craft and amending Directive 2009/16/EC and beyond the scope of Council Directive 1999/35/EC. Also this text provides for the implementation of the following acts of the European Union: Council Regulation (EEC) No. Council Regulation (EEC) No 3577/92 of 7 December 1992 on the application of the principle of freedom to provide maritime transport services within Member States (maritime cabotage); Regulation (EC) No 883/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2004 on the coordination of the social security system; Regulation (EC) No 392/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2009 on the liability of carriers of passengers by sea in the event of an accident; and Regulation (EU) 2017/352 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 February 2017 establishing a framework for the provision of port services and common rules on the financial transparency of ports."
This text further re-edits various articles of the Maritime Code, including the necessary variations as for the new reference documents and their claims.

Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force eight days after its publication in the Official Gazette, with the exception of the provisions of article 5, which has been amended by article 3 of this text, in the part referring to the definition of ship, boat, yacht, fishing boat and large passenger yacht, including articles 69 to 192 of this text which shall all enter into force on 1 January 2020.
