Abstract
This Law provides all necessary standards and requirements for the correct and sustainable production, processing, use, marketing and labeling of food for special dietary needs.
For the purposes of this Law food for special dietary needs can be divided into the following categories: initial and follow-on formula; processed cereal-based food and baby foods for infants and young children; gluten free food; food intended for people with the disorder of carbohydrate metabolism (diabetes); food with a low and reduced energy value intended for weight reduction; food for athletes and people with increased physical activity; food for special medical purposes; and suitable food for special dietary needs that does not belong to the categories listed or included by this Law.
The Law is divided into 7 Chapters and 21 articles, including all provisions related to the official controls and inspections, data collection, and offences and penalties.

Entry into force notes
This Law will be published in the "Official Gazette of the Republic of Croatia" and shall enter into force on the date of accession of the Republic of Croatian into the European Union.
