Abstract
This Regulation is the basis for ensuring a high level of consumer protection in relation to the information about food, taking into account of differences in the perception of consumers and their information needs, while ensuring the smooth functioning of the market.
This Regulation sets out the general principles, requirements and responsibilities related to the information about food, especially food labelling.
The Regulation further determines the way in which consumers are guaranteed the right to be informed and procedures for information about food, taking into account the needs for providing reasonable flexibility to respond to future developments and new demands for information.
The Annex is an integral part of this Regulation.

Entry into force notes
This Regulation enters into force eight days after its publication in the Official Gazette, except for the provisions of article 10 paragraph 2, article 35 paragraph 3, article 39 paragraph 2 and article 45 which shall enter into force on the day of Croatian accession to the European Union.
