Regulation on flavourings.

This Regulation prescribes the conditions for the use of flavours and food ingredients with flavouring properties in or on food, with a view to ensure the effective functioning of markets, high level of protection of human health, high level of consumer protection, including fair practices in food trade, and if necessary environmental protection respect.
This Regulation sets: a) a list of flavourings and source materials approved for use in or on food, which is listed in Annex I; b) conditions for the use of flavours and food ingredients with flavouring properties in or on food; c) labelling requirements.
The provisions of this Regulation shall apply to: a) flavourings that are used or intended for use in or on food; b) food ingredients with flavouring properties; c) food containing flavourings and/or food ingredients with flavouring properties; d) source materials for the flavour and or source materials for food ingredients with flavouring properties.
The provisions of this Regulation shall not apply to: a) goods exclusively sweet, sour or with salty taste; b) unprocessed foods; c) basic food ingredients and blends, fresh, dried or frozen herbs and or herbs, tea blends and mixtures for infusion or similar, if not used as food ingredients.
