Abstract
This Regulation prescribes the manner of monitoring zoonoses and zoonotic agents, monitoring their resistance to antimicrobial agents, epidemiologic investigation of the mechanism and conditions for the emergence of diseases transmitted by food and exchanging information related to zoonoses and zoonotic agents in humans and animals, in food and feed.
The purpose of this Regulation is to ensure proper monitoring of zoonoses, zoonotic agents and their resistance to antimicrobial agents and proper epidemiological investigation of the mechanism and conditions for the emergence of diseases transmitted by food in order to guarantee the collection of data necessary to evaluate trends and their sources.
This Regulation shall not preclude the requirements specified by special regulations in the field of human and animal health, animal nutrition and food hygiene.
The responsibilities and tasks of the reference laboratories, particularly with regard to coordination of their activities, are determined by special regulations.
The Annex is an integral part of this Regulation.
