Abstract
This Law provides for the protection of animal health, regulates public veterinary activities, improvement of animal reproduction, related environmental provisions, the principles of veterinary control and certain other issues related to veterinary practice. Animals in terms of this text are considered as animals from the equine family (horses, donkeys, mules, mules, etc.), animals from families of ungulates (cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, etc.), poultry (chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks and other birds reared or kept for the production of meat, breeding or table eggs, and other products and wild birds for breeding and production), ornamental, foreign and wild birds and animals, dogs, cats, rabbits, bees, mulberry, fish, crabs, frogs, snails, other mollusks, shellfish, sea urchins, turtles, leeches, game, experimental animals, animal semen, embryos and hatching eggs.
This Law also establishes duties of animal owners and prescribes further rules for the prevention of animal disease.
This Law is divided into 21 Chapters and 155 articles.

Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force eight days after its publication in the Official Gazette, except article 106 point 2 and article 89 point 5, which shall enter into force the day of entrance of The Croatian Republic in to the European Union.
