Abstract
This Regulation prescribes maximum levels for certain contaminants that may be present in food.
Contaminant means any substance that is not added to food intentionally, and that kind of food is contaminated by: production (including primary production and veterinary medicine), processing, preparation, transport, storage and marketing or as a result of environmental pollution . The definition of contaminant does not cover the matter such as insect fragments, animal hair and other similar things.
In terms of this Regulation, contaminants are considered as: nitrates, mycotoxins, metals and metalloids, 3-monopropandiol, dioxins and PCBs, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and radioactive CS134 and CS 137.

Entry into force notes
This Regulation enters into force eight days after its publication in the Official Gazette.
Notes
On the effective date of this Regulation, the provisions of the Regulation on the quantities of pesticides, toxins, mycotoxins, metals and histamines and similar substances that may be in foodstuff and on other conditions to respect food safety, and general use items (Official Gazette 46/94, 45/98, 11/01, 39/03, 16/05 and 29/05) will be no longer in force.
