Act No. LVI of 1995 on environmental protection fee and on environmental protection fee of certain products.

The purpose of this Act to raise funds for the prevention and reduction of environmental hazards and damages caused by products which directly or indirectly endanger the environment or one of its elements during the production, marketing, utilization of the product, as well as to contribute to the prevention and reduction of environmental pollution and to the promotion of activities oriented towards the sustainable management of natural resources. Products subject to environmental protection fee are fuels and other petroleum products, rubber tyres, refrigerators and refrigerating agents, packaging materials, accumulators, thinners and solvents of paints and varnishes. The Act contains general rules on the payment of the fee, exemptions from payment, reduction of the fee, and detailed rules regarding the fee of the products listed above. The annexes to this Act contain the amounts of the environmental protection fee.
