Abstract
This Decree provides rules regarding mainly the conservation of genetic resources of protected autochthonous farm animal species. The conservation shall be implemented through breeding programs which shall be prepared taking into account the level of endangeredness of the given species. Article 3 lays down rules regarding the recognition of associations or unions as breeding organization. Article 4 concerns control of implementation of breeding programs. Article 5 contains specific rules on in-vitro conservation. Articles 6 foresees that the breeding organization, as breeder for maintenance, must collect, elaborate, record and transmit data regarding the origin, breeding information and performance tests of the protected autochthonous farm animal species, and provides sanctions as well. Article 7 contains rules on the use on food labels of the name of species falling under this Decree.
