Abstract
This Decree applies to nuclear establishments, installations and components already existing or to be built in the territory of Hungary, to activities related to, and operators working in, nuclear establishments. Public administrative duties falling under this Decree must be carried out by the National Atomic Energy Office (nuclear safety authority). Requirements common to all nuclear establishments are laid down in Chapter II. Chapter III sets out provisions regarding official control (licensing, approval, control and validation, procedures). Chapter IV provides rules on the obligations of licensees (general responsibilities, reporting on and evaluation of safety). Chapter V provides for periodic (every ten-years period) verification of safety. Chapter VI regards investigation of events and the utilization of past experiences to increase safety. Chapter VII contains rules regarding the preparation for the event of malfunctioning, nuclear danger and nuclear incident, and preventive measures. Regulations on Nuclear Safety are comprised in Annexes 1-9.
