Law of the Republic of Indonesia no. 41 of 2014 concerning amendments to Law no. 18 of 2009 on Animal Husbandry and Animal Health.

This Law amends the Law no. 18 of 2009 concerning provisions on animal health and animal husbandry. The Law defines the following relevant terms: animal health; animal welfare; animals, as creatures whose entire or part of their life cycle is on land and, or on water; livestock; pets; wild animals; genetic resources; animal reproductive materials; ruminant animals; animal products; breeders; livestock company; feed and feed ingredients; public grazing area; veterinary practice; veterinary medicines; authorised veterinarian; animal disease; infectious animal disease; zoonoses, as diseases that can be transmitted from animals to humans or vice versa; animal husbandry tools; animal health tools; veterinary health authority.
Amendments cover the following matters and topics: artificial insemination techniques and supply of certified reproductive materials; specific requirements for imported genetic and reproductive materials; prohibition to slaughter productive female ruminants, except for disease control and management, religious provisions, or ending animal suffering; breeders' right to enter into business partnerships; local governments' authority in encouraging animal farming; measures concerning importation and exportation of livestock and their products; measures for protecting animals from the spread of disease and the territory of the Republic from the threat of the entry of animal diseases from abroad; immunisation and other biosecurity measures; quality and halal certifications for animal products used for human consumption; veterinary requirements for processed food of animal origin; measures concerning imported fresh animal products; measures aimed at prohibiting anyone from abusing and mistreating animals.
