Presidential Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia number 35 of 2022 concerning Strengthening the Function of Agricultural Extension.

This Presidential Regulation aims at increasing the availability, access, and the quality and safety of food consumption with strategic efforts to increase production and productivity, regulate distribution; at increasing agricultural productivity and strengthening human resources in agriculture and the application of technologies and innovation in agricultural sector. The Regulation concerns the following topics: agricultural management, including food crops, plantation, animal husbandry and agro-ecosystem conservation; farmers and their families; agricultural business actor; agricultural extension, as a learning process to help farmers and business actors to organise themselves in accessing market information in order to increase productivity, efficiency and raise awareness on the preservation of the environment; food; food availability; access to food; quality of food consumption.
The Regulation provides for: implementation of agricultural extension in provinces and districts with a forum for the management of competency development of workers; strengthening of the working relationship; formulation of policies and drafting of plans on agriculture extension; monitoring and evaluation of activity; tasks and responsibilities of agricultural extension institutions in districts and villages; capacity building; agricultural extension materials, provided by the Minister taking into account: natural resource potential; availability of local food genetic resources; market development potential; availability of agricultural facilities and infrastructure; planting season and harvest schedule; food insecurity conditions and cases of malnutrition; local food availability. Specific authorisations is required for technological materials likely to damage the environment, disturb the health and cause economic losses. Specific agricultural extension materials to improve food availability, food access, and quality of food consumption include: cultivation and post-harvest food crops, horticulture, plantation, and animal husbandry, nutritious food preparation techniques, creation of community food reserves, integrated agricultural management, development of micro, small and medium enterprises in food distribution, food quality improvement.
