Abstract
This Regulation, based on the provisions of article 5 paragraph (2) of the Regulation of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia no. 86 of 2019 on Food Safety, provides for defining the maximum limits of heavy metal chemical presence in processed food, in order to protect the consumers from food contamination. The Regulation requires everyone involved in the process of production, storage, transportation and distribution of processed food to meet food contamination and sanitation requirements. The Regulation focuses on: types of heavy metal contamination; types of processed food, including: vegetable products, ice products, processed oil and fat products, fruits, chocolate products, processed meat and fish products, herbs and spice products, natural mineral water, infant food; maximum limit of heavy metal contamination, specified in the attached table; analytical methods for testing; requirements in case of imported processed food; supervision and compliance with pollution requirements.
