Abstract
This Ministerial Regulation, in order to implement provisions of the Government Regulation no. 47 of 2014 on control and management of animal diseases, focuses on the surveillance, investigation, and identification of animal diseases. The Regulation defines the following relevant terms: animals; animal diseases; contagious diseases; strategic contagious animal diseases; exotic animal diseases; surveillance and monitoring activity; veterinary authorities; infected area; outbreak area; National animal health information system. Matters covered by this Regulation include: methods for surveillance, early detection, and investigation of animal diseases, including sample collection and data reporting through the national animal health information system; investigation procedures; guidelines for testing samples in accredited veterinary laboratories; procedures for issuing early warnings and restricting animal movement to prevent disease spread, including quarantine measures; identification of infected or dangerous animals. Attachments contain a detailed list of surveillance methods for diseases discovery, early detection of disease, geographic distribution, and free situation status.
