Abstract
This Ministerial Regulation implements provisions of article 4 (3) of the Government Regulation no. 4 of 2016 in its last amended version, concerning importation of livestock and animal products in certain cases. The Regulation concerns the following matters: importation of livestock; State-owned enterprises; powers and duties of the Director General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health; country of origin of livestock; registration of premises; World Organisation for Animal Health. The Regulation prescribes restrictions on importation of cattle in the following circumstances: consequences of disasters; need to stabilise price or supply. The Regulation specifies requirements for importation, including permits and applications, certificates of ownership and good health of the animal, issued by a veterinary officer; declaration of foot-and-mouth disease free zone. Specific requirements for premises include: respect of animal welfare principles; providing animal feed without meat; limits of antibiotics and growth hormones for ruminants; respect of quarantine measures.
