Abstract
This Ministerial Regulation, implementing provisions of Article 13 paragraph (4), Article 18 paragraph (3), Article 21 paragraph (2), and Article 26 paragraph (4) of Government Regulation Number 7 of 1999 concerning the Preservation of Plant and Animal Species, provides for the conservation and rescue of wildlife species threatened with extinction. The Regulation concerns identification, assessment, rescue, and management of wildlife both within their natural habitat (in situ) and outside their habitat (ex situ), in order to: preserve biodiversity and ecological environment, protect endangered species, outline procedures for wildlife rescue, assessment, treatment, and release, manage wildlife conservation efforts. Matters covered by this Regulation include: definition of relevant terms; methods for rescue and conservation, including breeding and rehabilitation of species; procedures for rescue, treatment and release of species, including: health assessments, location suitability, and post-release monitoring; legal documentation, including permits, certificates, and documentation for wildlife handling and release; procedures to evaluate the health and behaviour of wildlife prior to release, including medical assessments and behavioural observations.
