Abstract
This Ministerial Regulation, implementing provisions of the article 71 paragraph (3) of the Government Regulation no. 28 of 2017 concerning fish farming, concerns measures for ensuring fish welfare in fish farming. According to the Regulation, the implementation of fish welfare measures concern: fish farming, fish transportation and fish health, and it is inspired by the following principles: fish free from hunger and malnutrition, from pain and disease, from fear, stress, and wound, and free to express their own natural behaviour. The Regulation covers related matters, such as: fish disease symptoms, water quality management, fish handling and killing methods in fish farming. The Regulation concerns: feeding fish in accordance with its physiological needs; using appropriate cultivation containers that do not hurt or cause stress to fish; registration of natural and artificial fish feed, in order to ensure it is free from additives; protecting fish health, by applying biosecurity measures and vaccinations; carrying out treatment for sick fish, by using appropriate medicines; using contaminant-free water; regulating the stocking density of fish, according to their biological characteristic and the various species; carrying out environmental quality management regularly; transport of fish.
