Abstract
The Animal Health and Welfare (Fur Farming Compensation Scheme) Regulations 2022 were established to provide compensation to licensees affected by the prohibition of fur farming. These regulations outline the process for applying for compensation, the types of losses covered, and the criteria for eligibility. Compensation is available for both income and non-income losses, including the difference between the net book value and the realisable value of assets, as well as lost income opportunities. Additionally, the regulations cover costs incurred due to the prohibition, such as lump-sum payments to redundant workers, disposal of breeding mink, and professional fees. There are also provisions for advance payments and the establishment of a training fund for redundant workers.
