Abstract
The Avian Influenza (Precautionary Confinement of Birds and Restriction on Assembly of Live Birds) Regulations 2025 mandate that individuals who possess or control poultry or other captive birds must confine them in secure buildings or in a manner that prevents contact with wild birds. Authorized officers can issue directions regarding the confinement of birds, biosecurity measures, and control of vermin. The regulations also prohibit the assembly of live birds at events, fairs, or markets, with an exception for pigeon racing. Biosecurity measures include minimizing movement to and from areas where birds are kept, effective vermin control, and ensuring feed and water are not accessible to wild birds.
