Abstract
This Order provides for measures additional to those introduced by the Diseases of Animals (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy) Order, 1989 to detect and control bovine spongiform encephalopathy in bovine animals by imposing a ban on the sale or supply for feeding to a bovine animal, sheep, goat, deer or any other ruminant animal and the feeding to such animals of feedingstuff containing animal protein derived from ruminant animals. This prohibition shall not apply where research authorized by the Minister for Agriculture and Food is being carried out. "Animal protein" means any protein material which is derived from a carcase but does not include milk or any milk product or dicalcium bone phosphate.
