Abstract
This Order makes provision with respect to measures to detect and control bovine spongiform encephalopathy in bovine animals. The Order provides for: (a) the compulsory notification of the disease in bovine animals; (b) the carrying out of measures regarding affected premises such as marking, of animals; (c) restriction of movement on affected or suspected animals; (d) the destruction of carcases of diseased animals; (e) a ban on the use of milk of affected or suspected animals for animal feed; (f) the cleansing and disinfection of premises and equipment; and (g) the amount of compensation payable for slaughtered animals.
