Abstract
These Regulations implement Council Directive 2002/60/EC laying down specific measures for the control of African swine fever. They provide for measures to control the disease such as notification, quarantine, cleansing and disinfection, establishment of protection and surveillance zones, authorization of movement of animals and their products in a protection zone, establishment of part of Ireland as infected area, etc. The Regulations also prohibit vaccination, except under a notice issued by the Minister, and provide with respect to inspections and powers of enforcement, arbitration in case of dissent with the decision of the Minister and compensation.
