Abstract
This Order contains provisions relating to the notification and control of selected animal diseases that are not subject to comprehensive control rules in other legislation (e.g. bovine tuberculosis, brucellosis, foot and mouth disease). It requires a person who has under his or her control an animal, carcase, product, semen or embryo of an animal, which is affected, or which he or she suspects to be affected with a disease listed in the Schedule to this Order, to notify that fact or suspicion to specified authorities. This duty is also extended to a registered veterinary practitioner who examines an animal or specified animal product. The Order also provides for the control of listed diseases by making the movement of notified animals or products subject to a licence of an authorized officer, by giving powers to inspectors to issue restriction notices and by requiring holders of animals to comply with such notices.
