Abstract
These Regulations amend the European Communities (Certain Contaminants in Foodstuffs) Regulations 2010 so as to give further effect to Community legislation setting maximum levels for certain contaminants in foodstuffs and laying down the methods of sampling and analysis for the official control of the levels of contaminants in foodstuffs. The Regulations, among other things, concern the fines and maximum term of imprisonment on summary conviction for an offence under the 2010 Regulations, and also provide for the recovery of costs from the defendant in the event of a successful prosecution, in addition to any fine or penalty imposed.
