Abstract
These Regulations prescribe classification, packaging and labelling conditions which must be complied with in relation to placing on the market of pesticides, in accordance with EC Council Directive 78/631/EC and amending Directives. They apply to any pesticide which is a pesticide for the purposes of the Directive. They do not apply to transport of pesticides, pesticides in transit, and pesticides intended for export to a country other than a Member State of the EC. Regulation 4 restricts the placing on the market of pesticides, e.g. before placing on the market of a pesticide three samples of the product shall be submitted to the Minister for Agriculture. Pesticides shall be classified in accordance with regulations 5 to 7. Regulations 8 and 9 prescribe packaging and labelling of pesticides to which these regulations apply. These provisions are additional to EC Regulations specified in regulation 10. Regulation 12 makes provision for the importation into Ireland of pesticides. Information specified in the regulation shall be submitted in writing to the Minister by the importer. The remaining regulations provide for enforcement and prescribe offences.
