Abstract
These Regulations implement Council Directive 92/119/EEC introducing general Community measures for certain animal diseases and specific measures relating to swine vesicular disease as far as it relates to swine vesicular disease. The Regulations provide for the application of control measures in the event of an outbreak or suspected outbreak of swine vesicular disease. Regulation 3 introduces restrictions on premises on which disease is suspected. An inspector shall, where he is of opinion that disease is confirmed on any premises, declare those premises to be uninfected place for the purpose of these Regulations (reg. 4). The Minister may declare infected area sunder regulation 11. Regulation 5 provides for slaughter of animals and destruction of semen and embryos on premises where a disease exists. Regulation 8 empowers authorized officers to mark any animal, carcass, semen, embryo or article, or order persons being owners or in charge of animals to do so. Regulation 9 provides for the cleansing and disinfecting of premises. Regulation 15 concerns the vaccination of animals.
