Abstract
These Regulations amend existing Regulations by: (a) updating the annexes to improve standards; (b) adding species of increased economic importance and deleting others of low importance; (c) revising certain provisions in order to facilitate the reproduction of seed in member-States other than that of origin; and (d) improving information provided on the official label.

In 1985 Regulations amend existing Regulations by revoking the provision relating to the charging of registration fees for entry in the National Catalogue. In 1997 Regulations replace the abbreviation "EEC" with "EC" with regard to packaging and labelling of seeds. In that occasion, maximum weights for seed lots of certain species have also been revised.The European Communities (Vegetable Seeds) Regulations, 1981, 1985, 1991 and these Regulations may be cited together as the European Communities (Vegetable Seeds) Regulations 1981 to 1997.
