Abstract
These Regulations provide for protection of consumers. They also amend the provisions of the Sale of Goods Act 1893. They do not apply to, among other things: contracts for the supply of foodstuffs, beverages or other goods intended for current consumption in the household which are physically supplied by the trader. They require that a consumer must be supplied with certain information and grant certain rights to the consumer as regards the contract.

The following are revoked: (a) European Communities (Cancellation of Contracts Negotiated Away From Business Premises) Regulations, 1989 (S.I. No. 224/1989), and (b) the European Communities (Protection of Consumers in Respect of Contracts Made by Means of Distance Communications (S.I. No. 207/2001).
