Abstract
These Regulations are food legislation that gives partial effect to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/186 laying down specific conditions applicable to the introduction into the Union of consignments (foods listed in Annex I to EU Regulation) from certain third countries due to microbiological contamination. They stipulate that the competent authority for the purposes of EU Regulation and of these Regulations shall be the Food Safety Authority, or the official agency, and require the Authority to submit biannual reports to the European Commission in accordance the EU Regulation 2017/186; to carry out official controls on consignments covered by the EU Regulation. The Authority or the official agency, as the case may be, may order the official detention of consignments where that is required to fulfil its obligations under EU Regulation 2017/186. Consignments of third countries shall be subject to import conditions specified in these Regulations.
