Abstract
Among new definitions introduced in the principal Act by the present Act are: 'fisheries region' which has the meaning assigned to it by the Fisheries Act, 1980, and includes the Foyle Area, within the meaning of the Foyle Fisheries Act, 1952, and 'regional board' which has the meaning assigned to it by the Fisheries Act, 1980, and includes the Foyle Fisheries Commission (acting as local authorities). Other amendments concern, inter alia, prosecution and defence, review of licences, legal proceedings and powers of courts, repair measures including the replacement of fish stocks and the restoration of spawning grounds, powers of local authority to prevent and abate pollution, water quality management plans, information to local authorities and sanitary authorities, and civil liability for pollution.
