Abstract
These Regulations provide for the control on the movement of certain pet animals within the EU and from third countries by introducing a system for the identification of pets in accordance with Regulation No. 998/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council (as amended last by Commission Implementing Decision 2012/112/EU). Movement of dogs, cats and ferrets between member states to Ireland requires a pet passport in accordance with the Community Regulation. Importation of pets from Third Countries shall be subject to requirements regarding electronic identification, Tapeworm treatment and certification or passport. These Regulations also introduce requirements of approved transporters and approved entry points.
