Abstract
These Regulations implement measures for the protection of Bluefin Tuna adopted by the European Union as a contracting party to the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas and brought into effect by Council Regulation (EC) No. 302/2009. That Regulation implements the multiannual recovery plan for bluefin tuna in the eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean. Bluetuna may only be caught, landed or retained on board in accordance with a fishing authorisation as defined in Council Regulation (EC) No. 1224/2009. Fishing boats shall comply with rules regarding size, close seasons, bycatch and landing as laid down by Council Regulation (EC) No. 302/2009.
