Abstract
These Regulations amend the Waste Management (Food Waste) Regulations 2009 (S.I. No 508 of 2009), which are designed to promote the segregation and recovery of food waste arising in the commercial sector, are amended to obligate all commercial premises to segregate their food waste (other than those commercial premises specifically exempted under those Regulations) in line with the requirements in the European Union Waste Framework Directive (Directive 2008/98/EC) that bio-waste is either separated and recycled at source or is collected separately and is not mixed with other types of waste.
