Abstract
These Regulations, made by the Minister for State at the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment in consultation with Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) provide for, among other things, the quotas of fish that can be harvested by commercial fishing engines and rod and line from rivers identified in Schedule and the issue of tags for catch control purposes of fishing for wild salmon and sea trout and other tagging of fish in accordance with these Regulations. The holder of a commercial licence must ensure that any wild salmon or sea trout caught and retained, in accordance with a quota decided under these Regulations, by a commercial fishing engine, has a commercial (blue) gill tag attached to it in accordance with these Regulations. Tail tags shall be distributed by IFI to dealers for the purposes of control of (imported) wild salmon or sea trout. A dealer shall keep and maintain a tags removal register and a dealer’s record book. IFI shall issue a salmon and sea trout commercial fishing logbook to the holder of a commercial fishing licence. There continues in being in relation to each fishery district a Fishery District Committee, which shall have specified functions under these Regulations.
