Abstract
This Law, divided in five Parts and 25 sections, gives definitions and makes provisions for the improvement of Apicultural Production in Israel. Part One: Section 1 gives definitions. Reproduction Material is defined as any biologic member of an Apiary, including brood combs, eggs, swarms and queens. Part Two, section 2 prohibits the developing of Bee Colonies unless authorized by the operating authority. Section 3 the operating authority has the power to issue licenses for the holding and developing of bee colonies. The license must be renewed yearly. Section 4 prohibits the moving of bee colonies from a place to another unless the new place is authorized in the license. Part Three: Section 5 a person shall not post his bees in a bee-pasture zone unless authorized by the operating authority. Sections 6 and 7 provide for bee-pasturing permission procedures. Part Four, sections 8-11 provide for procedures regarding the obtaining of licenses for Reproduction Purpose Apiaries and Enhancement Apiaries. Section 12, the holder of an apiary listed in section 8 is obliged to run a register of all Reproduction Material that has been sold. Sections 13 and 14 prohibit the selling of reproduction material unless material has been produced by a reproduction purpose apiary or an enhancement apiary. Section 15, reproduction material for a reproduction purposes apiary shall be acquired from enhancement apiary. Sections 16 and 17 in an enhancement apiary shall be kept reproduction material of self production unless the director of the Apiculture department has authorized otherwise. Part Five, section 18 establishes beehive marking procedures. Section 19 prohibits the selling or passing of bees to another unless bees are of Italian race or of another race authorized by the director. Section 20 prohibits the importation of bees for reproduction purposes unless according to the directors’ instructions. Sections 21-23 provide for administrative procedures regarding transgressions of this regulation, license abrogation and suspension included. Sections 24 and 25 give general information.
