Abstract
This Law establishes provisions to prohibit cruelty to animals, abuse or incitation to animal abuse (sect. 2). Section 3 and 4 prohibits working animals against their physical conditions and killing of animals by any kind of poison. Under sections 5 to 7 the Director of the Veterinary Services shall appoint supervisors for the purpose of this Law and entitle them to carry out searches and investigate offences. The Authority is entitled to any animal seizure, in case of suspect of any offence (sect. 8) and shall authorize the animal return to his possessor or owner under specified conditions (sects. 9 and 11). The Authority may transfer the ownership of an animal under specified conditions and is empowered to enforce treatment or slaughter to any suffering animal (sects. 12 and 13). Section 14 establishes a fund for animals whose object is the coordination of financial means to serve education, information, and assistance to animal protection organizations. Sections 15 to 16A make provisions about criminal complaint and measures, such as penalties or fines, to be taken against offences (section 17A).
