Abstract
This Law sets out the powers and functions of local authorities with respect to sewerage services. Compensation is payable for damages caused by installation of sewerage works. A scheme for the installation of a plant for the purification of wastewater or for the removal of wastewater from the area of the local authority requires the approval of the Minister of Agriculture or of a person appointed by him. A local authority may sell its wastewater provided that, to the satisfaction of the health authority, it will not become a public nuisance. Among the offences listed are the discharge of harmful substances or rainwater into sewer systems.
