Assam Panchayat (Amendment) Act, 2023 (Assam Act No. LI of 2023).

This Act amends the Assam Panchayat Act, 1994 (principal Act). In section 2 of the principal Act, definitions for Ward and Ward Sabha are inserted as clauses (45) and (46). A new section 3A is inserted which constitutes the District Delimitation Commission to decide the size of the Gaon Panchayat, Anchalik Panchayat and Zilla Parishad constituency. Section 4A, 4B 4C and 4D are inserted which provide for composition of Ward Sabha, its meetings and quorum and powers and functions. Further, sections 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 15, 25, 34, 38, 43, 67, 70A, 73, 90, 98, 107, 111, 114, and 140 are amended. A new section 127EE is inserted after section 127E of the principal Act.
