Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2016 (Act No. 35 of 2016).

This Act amends the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986 (principal Act). The long title and short title of the principal Act are amended. The meaning of the word adolescent is added and that of child is amended. Section 3 of the principal Act prohibiting child labour is substituted. Section 3A is added in respect of employment of adolescents in certain hazardous occupation. Sections 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 are amended. In section 14, sub-sections (1) and (2) are substituted by sub-sections (1), (1A), (1B) and sub-sections (2) and (2A) respectively. New sections 14A, 14B, 14C and 14D are inserted. Sections 17A and 17B are inserted after section 17 of the principal Act. Section 18 is amended and the Schedule is also amended.
