Insecticides Act, 1968 (Act No. 46 of 1968).

This Act regulates the import, manufacture, sale, use, etc. of insecticides in order to prevent risks to human beings and animals.
The Act provides for the establishment of a Central Insecticides Board and of a Registration Committee. The Central Insecticides Board shall advise the Central and the State Governments on technical matters arising out of the use of insecticides. The Registration Committee shall grant registrations to individuals involved in the import or manufacture of insecticides, after having scrutinized their formulae and certified claims with respect to their efficacy and safety to human beings and animals.
The Act makes provision for the granting of licences for the manufacture, sale, storage of insecticides.
The Act further provides for the following matters: establishment of a Central Insecticides Laboratory; prohibition of importing, manufacturing, selling certain insecticides which have not been registered under this Act or for reasons of public safety; appointment of Insecticide Analysts and Inspectors; offences and punishments.
