Abstract
These Rules are framed in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 34 of the Land Ports Authority of India Act, 2010 (Act). It consists of 14 Rules across four chapters: I. Preliminary; II. Conditions of Service of the Chairperson and Other Members of the Authority; III. Manner of Investment of Funds by Authority; IV. Annual Statement of Accounts of the Authority; and V. Annual Report of the Authority.
Chapter I contains the short title, commencement date and definitions. Chapter II provides for the terms of office and conditions of service of the Members of the Authority and related matters. Chapter III specifies the manner in which the Authority may invest its funds including in securities and fixed deposits. Chapter IV requires the Authority to prepare annual statement of accounts and submit it to Comptroller and Auditor General of India for audit. Chapter V obligates the Authority to prepare an Annual Report at the end of each financial year giving an account of its activities during that financial year and activities likely to be undertaken during the next financial year.

Entry into force notes
These Rules shall come into force on the date on which the Land Ports Authority of India Act, 2010 (31 of 2010) shall come into force.
