Abstract
This Act Amends the Merchant Shipping Act 1958.
Amendments to the Act shall include: substitution of section 76 with a new section dealing with certificates of competency; substitution and omission of various sub-sections in section 95 on seamen’s employment offices; substitution of section 97 and insertion of a new section 97A; substitution of section 300 with a new section on cargo ship safety equipment; substitution of sections 301 and 303 with new sections and changes to sections 307 and 313 on cargo ship safety radio certificates; substitution of various sections and changes to sections 352A through 352R on limitation of liability for damages; insertion of a new Part XC on International Pollution Compensation Fund.
Minor amendments have been made to sections 87, 299, 299A and 344.
