Abstract
These Rules are framed in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (w) of section 262 and clause (s) of sub-section (2) of section 435 read with section 457 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958. Part I of the Rules provide for short title, commencement, definitions and application. They apply to the loading and carriage of livestock by sea. Part II contains provisions in respect of approval for carrying livestock by vessel, inspection of vessels and maintaining of records. Part III requires the master of a vessel to have information of the weather and get the voyage plan approved prior to sailing. Part IV lays down the duties of master, the procedure before loading and care of livestock on board. Part V provides for the livestock loading density to be maintained.
