Abstract
These Rules regulate the management of village forests and prescribe the conditions under which the community may be provided with forest produce or with pasture, and their duties in respect of the protection and improvement of such forest.
The management of village forests shall vest in a Committee who shall demarcate the boundaries of the village forest. The Committee shall also be responsible for issuing permits for the felling, conversion, collection or removal of wood or forest produce from the village forest.
The Rules provide for: acts prohibited in village forests; meetings of the Committee; preparation and contents of management plans; village funds; etc.
