Abstract
This Act provides for the establishment of the Sugar Development Fund which shall finance activities for the development of the sugar industry.
The Fund shall be used by the Government of India for: granting loans for facilitating the rehabilitation and modernization of any sugar factory or for the development of sugarcane in the area in which any sugar factory is situated; making grants for the purpose of any research project aimed at the development of the sugar industry; defraying expenditure for the purpose of building up and maintenance of buffer stocks of sugar with a view to stabilizing price of sugar; etc.
