West Bengal Municipal (Amendment) Act, 2000 (West Bengal Act XXII of 2000).

This Act amends the West Bengal Municipal Act, 1993 (principal Act). In section 2 of the principal Act, new definitions are added by adding clauses (22A), (22B) and (44A). Sections 14 and 15 are amended and sub-section (4) of section 18 is omitted. A new section 19A is added relating to taking over of charge by Chairman. Sections 21, 21B and 23 are amended and new section 21C is inserted. Further, sections 54, 60A, 66, 92, 101, 105, 112, 118, 132, 138 and 208 are amended. In part V of the principal Act, after chapter XIV, a new chapter XIV-A relating to preservation of heritage buildings is inserted. Section 333, relating to mosquito breeding, is substituted and sections 363 to 366 are amended. New sections 431A, 433A and 433B are inserted.
