Law No. 4 of 2008 on the protection and development of agricultural production in the Kurdistan Region - Iraq.

This Law aims to promote the countryside and to encourage farmers to reverse migration to villages and direct them towards investment on agricultural lands. The Ministry of Agriculture shall organize the internal and external marketing of national agricultural products, encourage the use of technological devices for the storage of the products, compensate the owners for plantation damaged by natural disasters, and provide the devices useful for water conservation. The Law nominates the relevant tribunals in case of illegal enlargement of agricultural lands. Farmers or landowners will be sanctioned in case of disrespect of the provisions of this Law.
