Abstract
This Law consisting of 10 articles aims at establishing the Ministry of Agriculture in the Kurdistan region with the goal of developing and improving agricultural production and achieving the optimal use of local natural, material and human resources. This development involves: an infrastructure rebuilding in the agricultural sector to achieve self-sufficiency and food security and to encourage reverse migration (from the city to the countryside) in order to reach a better life in the villages and rural areas of Kurdistan and its neighborhoods.
Main tasks of the Ministry are: establish agricultural plans to achieve the development of agricultural production; provide guidelines and agricultural production requirements; conduct studies for projects; provide improved seeds, chemical fertilizers and pesticides and ensure agricultural equipment and vehicles; improve livestock, fisheries and apiculture sectors; face agricultural pests; develop both pastoral and forest sector; support the development of agricultural banks and the private sector investments.
