Abstract
This Law is composed of 5 parts and 24 articles: general provisions (part I): implementation monitoring will be entrusted to the "Special Administration" (art. 2); breeding of wild animals in protected areas and creation of natural habitats for wild animals and birds (art. 3). Rules on protection are contained in Part II; in particular, as far as hunting is concerned, the Iraqi territory is divided into three parts: prohibited zones, protected zones and hunting zones (art. 4); the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation shall issue in the Official Gazette a list of protected species of animals and birds, prohibited zones, hunting seasons and hunting gears and methods (art. 5); absolute prohibition as regards the following: collective hunting of wild animals and birds, hunting of wild animals with cars or aeroplanes and using automatic guns or machine-guns (art. 6). According to Part III on hunting regulations the hunting of wild animals must be authorized by the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation (art. 8). Part IV deals with offences and penalties: transgressors will shall be liable to the payment of a fine of 500 dinars or to three years imprisonment or both (art. 19). Final provisions are contained in Part V.
